Chiapas…
…is the southernmost state, which borders Guatemala and has long had the highest rate of poverty in Mexico.
Diverse indigenous groups add unique flavor to the local culture’s language, food, art, music, and festivities. Chiapas has many natural resources with jungles, mountains, rivers and coastline.
However, many people suffer from unemployment, low wages and little access to education. This lack of opportunity has continuously kept many families in moderate and severe poverty.
THE MISSION OF HOGAR IS TO BREAK THAT CYCLE OF POVERTY
BY GIVING EACH CHILD WHO COMES TO US AN OPPORTUNITY FOR A BETTER LIFE.
Not only do we provide a safe place to live and nutritious food, but we provide the opportunity for our young people to earn a degree in higher education or complete trade training so that they can support themselves and a family as adults.

young people ages three through college age currently live at the Ranch.
While most children at Hogar Infantil have family, the family is unable to provide for them due to varying circumstances. Some situations are more dire than others, but all our children share poverty as a common thread. Hogar becomes a “home away from home” for the children, who live and work together in a family-type environment.
